Grid Display

Dead easy to one of you experts - I'm stuck! Been using LT 2013 since its release with no problems, now I have just re-installed it onto a new pc and every time I open the programme the grid display is on by default and I can't figure out how to make the default to off!  If I re-open a saved file where I had set it to off, it remains off.

Cheers,

Hi,

I'm not expert but did have the same situation, I read on another thread that the grid in controlled in a template file .dwt, it said if you open that template file and the grid off then save the file the next time you open the program it grid will then be turned off, makes sense, I tried and and it worked for me, hopefully it does the same for you.

Another specialists recommended these steps: (I didn't have to use them but if the first doesn't work you could try it:

You may modify the contentlib.xml location using following steps:

1. Command amcontentmanager

2. Click on File Locations Button

3. Click the ... button and point to the default location shown in the attached image.

4. Click Save and Close button

5. Close AutoCAD Mechanical and Relaunch and verify the issue.

The answer above is exactly correct.  The status of the grid is saved with the file whether you save your file as a DWG or a DWT.  If you're opening your program with a QNEW template file, and that file opens with the grid on, all you need to do is resave the file as a DWT with the grid off and you'll be fine the next time you start up.

Option 1 did the trick. Sorry for the delay in replying, had a week away from the office. Thanks for the help.
