Graphics problem Nvidia Geforce 210

Had a hard drive crash due to malware or something, so my husband installed a new hard drive and reinstalled windows for me.  While he was at it, he thought he'd replace my video card with a "newer faster one" that he had lying around.  Well the new card causes the video to "stutter" or hesitate in autocad.  I have explored the nvidia settings to the best of my knowledge, but have not found anything to make it stop.  Here are the specs:

LT 2010 on WinXP

New card:  Nvidia Geforce 210 1 GB DDR3 ram

Old card: Nvidie Geforce 8600 GT - 256 MB ram

The old card is listed as compatible with Autocad, the new card is not.  Is this a case of "newer is not necessarily better", or am i missing a setting to fix this?  If i can't fix it, he will put the old card back in, but i thought i'd ask first.

Not sure if 2010 has Hardware Acceleration but if it does try turning it off.

At the bottom right in the tray there should be an icon that looks like a lightbulb with a caterpillar behind it.
