Fonts

I can not find my fonts where they are supposed to be and when I add new fonts that I want they don't show up in the list when I want to create a new text style. For example I use Californian as my default font for my drawings.  It works fine.  It seemed to come with the AutoCad LT standard fonts.  But this font does not show up in the fonts path file.

I go to Options and can find the path to fonts but the fonts that show up in my drop down menu when I create a text style are not in that list.  I have dropped new fonts in that file and they too don't show up.  Please help.

Have you installed the fonts you need as WINDOWS FONTS?

Go to control panel and then choose Add Fonts

TTF or SHX fonts?
No such thing as a "Californian" font with AutoCAD.

I am not sure if it is true type or shx. Californian is the name like
Arial or New Times Roman. Does Autocad pull from another library of fonts?

where do you go from Control panel to add fonts? Does AutoCad pull from
the windows font file?

SHX fonts belong in the FONTS folder found under your AutoCAD program folder.
TTF fonts must be installed in Windows: Windows' Control Panel has a FONTS app you need to launch, then click in file then INSTALL.

Windows Explorer (not your web browser) will tell you the file type if you go to the folder it is in.

OK. I think that worked. I have it in my list. Thank you.
I still have an open issue on fonts that seems to have been dropped. How
can I get it revisited?

Dropped how? if they are correctly installed as I outlined they should all appear: if AutoCAD makes a substitution or you can't see them in any font list then the font(s) is not correctly installed.
