file extension temporary files

acad 2006 lt
options --->open and save

file extension temporary files
when i fill in as extension dwg or dxf nothing changes
the extension stays sv$,
Is it possible to change this??????

You need to set Windows Explorer to display extensions first before
you can change them, otherwise all you are doing is adding to the file
name.

i had this already changed but the extension stays sv$

Do it again, it did not "stick".
Or you got Windows Explorer problems.
Or zip and post the file and someone can do it for you and be done
with while you figure it out,
or the file is useless for your needs if that's the real problem.

I think what you're trying to do isn't possible. Windows experts may be able verfiy/correct me but you can't have two distinct file types with the same extension. That would cause chaos.

I also think you're getting confused between temporary files (ac$) and autosave files (sv$). The option you're trying to change is for temporary files which as far as I'm aware can never be changed to .dwg/.dxf files and opened in ACAD.
