File conversion to Microstation

Hello. I am using AutoCAD LT 2002 and am trying to send a file to a user with Microstation 5.0.

What format does the AutoCAD LT 2002 file need to be saved in in order for it to be opened in Microstation 5.0?

I send DWG Release 14 files to people using Microstation and they can
open them OK. I am not sure if they are on Version 5, though. They use
whatever came before the current Version 8 (The way software companies
number releases, it could be version 7, version 2000 , Millennium
edition, etc.)

Check with the recipient and see what they can read in.

I have saved files for this Microstation 5.0 user in both V14 .dwg and .dxf formats.

The recipients are telling me that they can't open and manipulate .dwg or .dxf files unless they are from regular AutoCAD.

I was unaware that the files from reg. AutoCAD and LT were different.

Does anyone know if this is true?

Send them the file you use, R2000 format: tell them 'regular' Microstation
can open these with no problems. Latest version of Microstation as no
problem reading latest files from AutoCAD, so it looks like they may have to
upgrade.

Do NOT set SAVE to R14 format, leave it R2000 format and save.

AUDIT and see if there are errors in your file that can be fixed. Then use
SAVEAS and save a copy of the file in R14 format, then try and open it.

Most likely, the 'round-trip' information stored in the file when you save
down may be interfering with their translator, but that is something they
need to upgrade/update, you cannot do anything about it.
You could try using SAVEAS, select R12DXF format, and send them that file:
that's pretty much universal.

LT and AutoCAD, 2000 through 2002, create the same identical DWG file.
Nothing is different.
