FATAL ERROR lead me to update patch - patch won't install...?

FATAL ERROR: Itinit: Error getting linetype from symbol table

That was my original error. The file opens to some percentage then crashes.

This is similar to other crashes i've had. The common thread through all the crashes is when attempting to recover all Layers go AUDIT-BAD-LAYER. Sometimes It'll load and i can clean out the bad layers. Yet each time seems to be a slight bit different than the last.

While installing the patch i get:
Error 114: The AutoCAD LT 2002 update was not applied

Help!

(Strangly enough, I have a feeling it's from using the Hatch tool to extensivley.)

Error 114 means you downloaded the wrong patch. Get the correct
one (down them all if you are confused by the definitions).

Do your drawings contain Xrefs which you might be
associatively hatching against?

Yes all the drawings have hatchwork that is associated against. Our files crash right when the drawing is loading the xref. Will the patch fix it? Or do we stop hatching with the Xref on?
