Fatal Error 1316

I just recently upgraded to LT 2008, and see no reason to have LT 2007 installed also. I try to remove LT 2007 and I get "Fatal Error 1316. Network error occurred while attempting to read from file c:\windows\Installer\acadlt.msi". I have installed one critical upgrade for 2007, but no other that I can recall. First of all, why would LT 2007 stay installed when you upgrade to LT 2008(mind you i was sent a CD with upgrade specified right on the cover). Secondly, how do I get around the Fatal Error?

Computer specs:
Dell 670 Series Workstation (Purchased because Configuration is reccommended for CATIA)
Intel XEON 64 bit Architecture
(using 32 Bit XP -Driver issues)
3 GB RAM
80 GB HD - Partitioned b/c of XP 32 bit/64 Bit
THanks

99% of AutoCAD users never wish to have the older version
removed, so that's the default behavior.

You can always just delete the program folder and use any
free third party app to remove 2007 from Windows Programs
list. Otherwise I suspect you might have to reinstall 2007,
then uninstall it, then reinstall 2008 to fix what the
uninstaller removed.

I got to ask, what are some of the reasons given for keeping the previous version installed? With the new version, one can open previous version files then save them as the version needed without too much trouble, right?

Most AutoCAD users customize their seats to the hilt and
don't wish to lose any production time while transitioning
to newer versions. Very few just the program as is out of
the box.

And when there is a major format change (like 2007 was from
2006), there is an unknown element of whether the file can
go back intact for users with lower versions to open
trouble-free or not. Most AutoCAD users don't want to be the
field-testers for Autodesk products, they'd like to remain
productive all the time.

In your case, many of your LT2008 annotation/dim features
will not translate down to lower version users: if you share
files you currently might well have a problem you are not
fully aware of... .

Well that's good to know. Thank you for explaining that.
