No Autodesk team here, just us end users like you.

That's a Windows OS message telling you about limited PC resources no longer being available. Start shutting down all background running applications (including any anti-virus or other software that may be scanning AutoCAD and it's files): upgrading to a modern 64bit OS and adding more RAM may help as well.

Hello

AutoCAD 32 bits (any version 20xx-201x) has a historical "sound" barrier : about 1.3 Gb used by the 32 bits task "ACAD.exe" !

Even if you have yet 0.5-1.0 Gb windows memory available ... which is the maximum on a 3 or 4 Gb PC with a 32 bits Windows

You must switch to a PC 64 bits with Windows 64 bits (Seven if possible, it's better than Eight : my opinion)

with 8 Gb of Memory !

Bye, Pat

Hi s.gholap,

How are you?

As pendean and braudpat explained, the problem is mostly due to the limitation of 32-bit Windows OS.

In 32-bit Windows OS, for example Windows XP 32-bit, can manage up to 4 GB of memory space. It allocates 2 GB of memory for its own use and allocates only the maximum of 2 GB of memory space to its applications. It is a theoritical number and are shared by other applications running in the background, so the actual size is smaller than that.

The best option is to upgrade to 64-bit OS which allocates 8 TB (virtually unlimited) of memory space to applications.

Here are other things you may also need to check:

  • Install the latest AutoCAD LT 2012 updates
  • Install Windows updates
  • Install the latest hardware drivers (especially graphics driver)

I hope the above is helpful in resolving the issue.
