drawing in both imperial and metric units?

How do I switch between metric and imperial units in the sam e drawing?
If I start drawing in metric units and I use the offset command to offset a line 10 units then that distance should be 10 millimeters. But I want to be able to switch units to imperial within the same drawing so when I offset 10 units I'm now offsetting 10 inches. Is this possible?

Err, you don't: AutoCAD only works in UNITS, a unit is a unit, only you
decide if a unit is mm or inches or miles.

Unlike the real world where you can put these side by side and see the
difference, in CAD you don't.
So, if you want 10inches in your mm file, do the math in your head then
implement in mm.

I take it you are not that "fluent in metric"? I only ask because while
doing the math in your head gets you close, there are actual standards in
metric, just like in imperial units, that need to be met. For example,
4inches is not 100mm, but 100mm is the equivalent to 4" and is a standard
dimension.

Thanks very much, that's cleared that up.
