Customize Mouse Buttons

I'm using AutoCAD LT 2008 with Logitech Performance Mouse MX. I followed the instructions to customize the mouse buttons under Tools>>Customize>>Interface... When I make the selections that I want, review them select [Apply] and [OK] no changes appear to be made. I cannot understand why I can't change the way AutoCAD LT sees my mouse buttons. Can anyone help with this issue?

Mouse button assignments are done with the mouse driver first: what are
those set to? And beyond the middle and right buttons ALL the others (and
side-to-side motions) are set exclusively with the mouse driver.

Mouse driver settings affect ALL apps you have.

Also, AutoCAD only addresses two buttons, middle and right, nothing more.
The others you see in CUI are for Tablets and up to 16-button pucks.

here is a snapshot of the cui window:

Why would the application show mouse buttons?

while I agree that the mouse driver does control the button commands within any application that I run, the help window in AutoCAD suggested that I can change the performance of the buttons within the cui... Very confusing.

here is the Logitech SetPoint application window:

I can change how a particular button acts within a specific application, however I'm limited in the keystroke assignment.

I always change the left-right scrolling to "Do nothing" and the scroll
wheel to "Middle button" in this driver and do anything else in AutoCAD
- not that there is much that you can do.

Re-read my last reply about mouse drivers.

Why do you want to assign the pick button?

You want to be able to assign keyboard buttons or keyboard-combos in the
mouse driver, then map those functions in AutoCAD to do "something" you
want.

yes, I think this is the only option. They don't make it very easy, do they. The CUI tree obviously shows a mouse and the help topic is clearly for adding mouse button combinations... From what you're saying: these have nothing to do with customizing mouse buttons? Why did I purchase a high-dollar mouse: increase productivity or add complexity?

BTW: I didn't want to assign the pick button, that is just what pops up when the application opens...

I find a cheap comfortable 3-button scroll-wheel mouse that Windows can run
with no software the most useful.

Everything else is like driving a fancy car: looks good, but all it does is
get you from point A to point B like every other car on the road and not
much else.

Check out this thread:

What is the best mouse to use for AutoCAD

This is where I was led into this...
It's ok, I really like the mouse for all other applications. it'll just take a little work to get the bugs worked out.

No problem, just wondering: I don't use that driver so I did not know your
intent.

As long as you find it useful, that's all that matters. Happy Cadding.

Left and right buttons are function limited since changing them could
cripple a machine. If you are unable to left click, how can you select
an option to change it? However s you move down the list there are many
more options available for the other buttons and for the center
button/wheel.

Has anyone ever had problems with your osnap settings? I use Autocad 2011 and my osnap grabs the extension line of a dimension instead of the endpoint or intersection. I do not have the extension tagged in the osnap settings.

Welcome to the forums. Next time, start a new thread if you have a new problem...but since you're here, do you have Object Snap Tracking on? It will grab extensions from points even if you don't explicitly have the Extension snap turned on.
