Converting 2D Catia files to '.dwg' format

Am currently converting 2D files from CCD (2D Catia) to Autocad '.dwg' format & am experiencing some problems, eg:
1.Line weights attached to elements in CCD files
are not carrying through to dwg files.
2.Some symbols in CCD files (such as 'triangle')
are not recognised & display as '?'.
3. Some CCD details which should convert to blocks
are failing.
4. When opening converted files, message is displayed:
Non-perpendicular UCS X & Y axes: normalising.

Any info on conversions of this type is appreciated.

What process are you using to translate the files, is it IGES or
something else? It sounds like a conversion problem... Do you get any
better results if you explode some of those objects before exporting?

Thanks for quick response.
Exploding the blocks overcomes point 3.
Cannot explode symbols on Catia,
so cannot use this to overcome point 2.
Have many files containing this same block
which is not converting, so would be difficult
to locate each individual file & explode
this block prior to conversion.
Conversions were done using converter
supplied with Catia.
Regret don't have much info on it.

Brian,

you really should ask these questions to the provider of the
translator you used. AutoCAD can only handle the objects it is given
by the translator of course. Any translation will have some loss as
CAD objects don't fully match in the systems involved.

This sounds as if the converter is not creating AutoCAD 2000-style
files containing lineweights or as if the converter does not know
AutoCAD is capable of handling linewidths now.

This means that the font the converter choose for the text objects in
AutoCAD does not contain the symbols needed. It may be necessary to
install a font supplied with the converter.

Again this seems to be a problem of the converter who does not create
blocks for the symbols.

Any info on conversions of this type is appreciated.

This sounds as if the converter created a drawing where the X and Y
axes of a saved UCS aren't perpendicular to each other. AutoCAD will
correct this and let's you know that it does.

I've been fiddling with going the other way due to
a customer that must have CCD files.

1.) The CCD lineweights should be converted over on
a layer basis. C_Solid_L or something like that.

2.) No Clue on it

3.) When going the other way I have to convert
several AutoCAD drawings to blocks in order for them to go into CCD.  It
really doesn't like the results of the solprof and soldraw commands.  The
best thing to do is probably try to convert them in CCD.

4.) happens every time for me.  Just write a
routine to open the drawings and issue the ucs world command and the drawing
will be O.K.

Also I've foudn that it's best to convert to dxf
instead of dwg.  The dwg and the ucs causes my install to crash every now
and then.
