Computer freeze when going to edit plot style

My system: 800Mhz Intel Celeron, 128Mb RAM, Windows ME

Since I upgraded from LT'98 to LT2002, when I attempt to edit a plot style (.ctb file) the computer locks up & I have to reset (control_alt_delete doesn't even work). Am I missing a driver? Have even reinstalled software, but that did nothing.

Did you install LT2002 in the same folder as LT98?

No Dean, I intalled it in a separate folder.
Is that good or bad?

That is good: what is recommended actually. Did you do a repair
install, and pick the option to overwrite all files? Restart your
PC, turn everything off (lower right corner of Windows desktop
needs to be empty), and try it.

A full un-install, with you hunting down every Autodesk reference
in folders and registry, might be another option (back up first).
then there is the usual culprits: video card drivers need
updating, mouse drivers, updated Zip driver drivers, Windows
patches (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com) and so on.

Then, there is the ultimate solution: reformat your HD, and
reinstall Windows and only AutoCAD to see if the problem goes
away. Are you desperate enough? Just do not do anything silly if
it still does not work 😉

Mike, I just helped another customer on the phone with your same issue.
Refer to Technical Solution TS45252 for details on uninstalling and
performing a clean reinstall. You can find this tech doc here:

For starters, I am Mike25, but I had to put in another email address cause no matter what I put in I couldn't log back on under the same name!? Anyway, I've tried uninstalling everything according to this tech doc TS45252 as you said (Not sure if I quite did everything right), but I'm still having the same problem & it's driving me insane! Is there anything else I can do or can I have a guide to make sure I did the uninstall correctly? PLEASE!!!

I have tried a clean install & also reformatting my hard-drive (not just for this problem) and the computer still locks up when I go to edit plotting thicknesses. Is there any more help you can offer?

We also have the same problem although it seems to be slightly different depending on which windows version is running. On Windows 98 when we try to edit the ctb files an error message is displayed which allows you to click ignore and continue. On window me this dialogue box is not displayed and the computer completely hangs with the only option to turn off the power and restart. We have tried all the suggestions and as yet not found any solution. Can anybody advise?

Thanks for the quick reply in the first instance of my problem, however, as I have posted more messages stating I still have the problem (& others) autodesk seem to have washed their hands of us & not even bothered trying to resolve it. Thanks guys, might try microstation next time.
