Can no longer type or edit text

I was working along being productive when I went to edit a text box.   I placed my cursor in a line of text to edit and when I start typing, the rest of the line dissapears!

When I try to start a new line of text or text box, the cursor simply moves along but lays down nothing.  I've tried changing font, color and style but nothing helps.

I've checked in many different existing files, all do the same thing.

Please help!

Stuart

I've done an AutoCAD repair using my install disk and did a restart.  Same problem.

TEXT or MTEXT? or both? or something else?
text STYLE being used? Font defined in the style?
LT version?
Are you using Annotative text styles by chance?

Both Text and MText

LT 2006

Text style does not matter nor does type of font.

I've tried, and tried.

I don't know what annotiative text styles are.  Been using this program since it came out and have never seen this before.

So, I type and the curor moves but no text is shown. If I type some lines and hit enter, my text box dissapears but no text entity is left behind.  I canot select invisible text.  Nothing is there.

I uninstalled and re-installed AutoCAD.  Now everything works fine again.
