Best Hatch / Layer Practices

What is the best practice for this situation...........

3 different hatches with 3 different colors .......... Examples-- 1. AR-HBONE - Red,  2. Gravel - brown,  3. Wood Deck AN131 - green..

3 different layers for each or 1 Hatch layer for all hatches?

You can do it anyway you want really: do the colors mean anything other than a line weight setting?

No, the colors are just for lineweights. My thoughts were about turning off the hatch layers for speed and clarity, but I wasn't sure if the various colors, all in one layer, would create an unforeseen problem.

You can draw everything on one layer or put everything with a shared color on their own layer or you can call the layer the name of the object type (walls, doors, etc).
You don't want to create dozens of pointless layer names (hatch1, hatch3, hatch-red, hatch-blue).
Search the Internet for industry layer naming conventions standards, lots out there, like AIA or tri-services and others. They provide a base for you to start with.
