Balloon notifications not working

Hi all,
I've just noticed in LT2008 none of my balloon notifications are working, X-refs, data table updates etc.., in fact my icons don't even show exclamations. Tray settings are set ok, and datalinknotify is set to 2. has anybody else run into this?
Thanks
Matt.

It will sporadically do it here, a restart of LT seems to kick things back
into shape.

Is 2008 fully patched and updated?

Matt,

What has the tray settings to do with Xref notification?
It sound you have been used to the full version notification.
Regards Gary.

Depending on LAYEREVAL, you can get a balloon notice on unreconciled layers from a new or changed xref.
Perhaps, this is what was meant.

Dean,

Any chance of explaining what you have to offer here!

Regards Gary

Dean,

As you do not know the facts I will update you here!
Xref notification has to do with the system variable
XREFNOTIFY which for some does not exist in LT!

Initial value: 2
Controls the notifications for the Xrefs
that are referenced to the open file.
0 Notifications are disabled
1 Enables Xref notification system.
Activates the status bar tray icon when a drawing is opened that
contains Xrefs.
If the drawing is missing an Xref the icon is changed to include a
yellow alert.
2 Enables Xref notification system. Includes the same as value 1 and also
includes the displaying of balloon messages.

Gary, yes I am used to full version, but am used to LT as well, and unless I'm mistaken, even in LT you should still get notifications when xrefs have been updated, as well as when datalinks etc have. Currently I'm getting no warnings of anything being updated at all. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Matt

Xref update (or missing) notices are controlled by the system variable XREFNOTIFY.
Full AutoCAD has this, but LT 2008 doesn't know what XREFNOTIFY is.

Matt,

Xrefnotify is missing from LT although it is not to hard to turn on
if you know how!

What you are probably missing is the "layernotify" settings.

Check the value of this system variable.

Regards Gary
