AutoCAD LT 2012

I have been using AutoCAD since 1988.  I can breeze through it.

I find that if I type to fast, AutoCAD LT2012 will freeze up when I use the Offset Command.  I can do about 6 tasks and then the work freezes.  Thankfully it AutoSaves. 

Now, I am getting a screen, with AutoDesk in red letters at the bottom left.  The screen looks like it has a 45 angle of lines on colour 8 or 9.  I have to close the program.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Turn off DYNMODE for 1988 style AutoCAD and see if your "freeze" problem goes away with OFFSET command.

Graphics card and RAM issue perhaps?

OS (Win 7, 8 or XP) and on-board or dedicated video card?

That's your "error" screen? That's just the AutoCAD program window open, with no files. STARTUP=2: for old school style, set STARTUP to 1 or 0. instead.

Turn off hardware acceleration in LT2012 so that it doesn't beat up on your graphics card, that may help the graphics. The yellow light bulb on the lower right corner of the AutoCAD program window. Also turn off Win7's Aero theme, use the Windows Basic Theme instead: it's a POS that started in Vista and thankfully pulled from Windows 8.
