AutoCAD was working properly until two days ago, when all of a sudden, it would hang at the startup screen. No major changes were made to the computer that may have caused this.
When opening AutoCAD now, the splash screen comes up, then it says "Initializing..." and then Loading plug-ins... acmgd.dll" - it never moves from this point, though the progress bar keeps moving side-to-side.
I've tried restarting, repairing and reinstalling from the Programs in the control panel, and even a full uninstall and reinstall from disk. The problem still persists.
I'm running Win7 on an HP Envy17 laptop.

Couple of Google hits that will bring you back here. It may be that the dll file is corrupt.
Run A Registry Cleaner or Windows update two days ago?
May need to follow this advise from Autodesk for a clean install: (Back up all customizations first)
Remove Autodesk Products:

Thank you - the fix in the first link, changing permissions to the Microsoft.NET folder, worked:
