attribute limit

How many attributes are allowed. I need more than 8 but can't get them. in inserting, it asks for the values but it won't display
or extract them and attedit doesn't show them??

Surely 8 isn't the max.

I'm starting a rudimentary BOM system. Maybe someone knows of a simple BOM system out there for lt or lt w/ drauto

I've never had any problem with attributes (well not in quantity terms!).
We have some symbols here which have 20 attributes or more.

It's difficult without seeing what you are trying to do to figure out
where you are having problems.

Attributes can be constant (meaning they can have one value irrespective
of the number of insertions) and they can also be hidden (so they have a
value but don't display). Perhaps this is where you problem lies.

I'm not sure about LT, but the Autocad manual certainly has a pretty good
explanation of how to handle and extract attributes which is worth a look
for some guidance.

Hope this helps

John

I made a block from a text field with 8 attributes

when I went to change the block to include 2 more attributes. The most they show is 8 attributes for all the subsequent insertions.

When I insert them, they prompt for all 10 attributes but on edit of the block it only shows the 8 in the dialog box. and I can only
extract the 8

It also will not accept a no entry into an attribute??

some blockinserts will not need a value in some attributes, but it says error with that attribute (in text window) on extraction and
in the extraction file it fills the field with the previous field's value.

blockins
x = 1
y = 2
z =
w = test

'error in attribute tag z
extractfile.txt

1,2,2,'test'

Um, the attribute edit dialog should have a Next button. It doesn't
"expand", just gives you multiple "pages". If you don't see the OK, Cancel,
Previous, and Next buttons in the dialog you may need to set your screen
resolution higher.

Enjoy,
Stef

missed that next button,
also numeric extracts must have a value

anyway, my detailer thinks it isn't very useful, I'm thinking of having some sort of char or non printing code or dot or something
to id text and mtext objects to be used for bom. And then locate and use it with lisp from the toolkit.

Stef, you have any BOM quick and easy procedure you all use?

Can you say "manual"? We rarely get that detailed any more. Mostly just
flowsheets and general arrangments with the rest contracted out.

Enjoy,
