2013LT Layer settings?????

When I edit a file in 2013LT and change the x-ref layers to display specific color, line types, on/off, etc the file will display the perfect, however, when I save the file and reopen the next day, these settings have converted back to the original file layer settings.

I am recent upgrade form 2008 to 2013LT where 2008 allowed and kept the layer settings.  Is there a setting I am missing or can I convert the 2013LT layer program, settings (what ever it is called) back to 2008 where it seemed less confusing and more user friendly?  Addition, 2013 seems more complicated than ever before, however, that is good for some and as small business owner, I wish Autodesk would offer a way to convert back to older systems for those of us who simply want an accurate drawing for construction documentation.  No 3-D stuff, just plan views,

Thanks
