I tried to search for a duplicate entry of my question, didn't have much luck, so if this is a answered question already, appologies.
We are being told by our Plant Services department that they need an upgraded AutoCAD LT 2011 from 2007 because they can't open up newer files. Is this the case? Just don't want to spend $$$ on an invalid argument....
Thanks!

Yes, you are a DWG version behind.
No, you don't need to spend money if you are willing to forgo new entities, objects and features that may be in the drawings: the free DWGTRUEVIEW program from Autodesk will let you view and save down newer DWG files to older format. For free, install as many copies as you want throughout your organization.
