2008 and 2002

using autocad lt 2002. buying autocad lt 2008. Can I open 2002 files in 2008 version? Can a file created in 2008 be opened in 2002 version?

any new version can open older versions.

in order for 2002 to open a 2008 file, you must save it as a R2000
format file (File > Save As) from within 2008.

Keep in mind you will have some compatibility issues with the newer features
when you save down. As long as you don't use the newer features, you should
not notice any problems.
