2007LT QUAD-CORE CPU

I just built a new computer to replace my old workstation. I am running INTEL 5345 QUAD CORE CPU(4 x 2,333 MHz), NVIDIA QUADRO FX1500 256mb, 4 gigs Ram, and XP PRO x64 bit. (2007 LT) I have noticed that my screen jumps, and sticks now. I have been using AUTOCAD LT for several years, and built several computers. This is the first time that I have ran into this problem. I have played with the NVIDIA settings and I have not seen any improvements (yes it is the recommended driver for XP PRO x64) Is the problem with the QUAD CORE CPU or does AUTOCAD 2007 LT no like running on QUAD CORE CPU? Other then the visual sticking AutoCAD seems to running great? [basic drafting 2D, small files]

Have you always run LT2007 in a 64bit OS?

I honestly don't remember........ I have about 8+ computers that I update and rebuild all the time. I think that I have an AMD x2 64x with 2 geforce 8?00 in SLI, and it just purrs. This is my first QUAD CORE, first Intel computer I have built, and first Nvidia Quadro graphics card. So far I am not impress with the price vs quality. The 8?00 card is cheaper bigger, faster, no comparison.

Not what I asked: try again?

64bit OS and 64bit apps are great, but LT2007 is a 32bit app which would run
in emulation in a 64bit OS, so would everything in that OS running a 32bit
app. Are your various hardware component guaranteed to run 100% in emulation
too?

I am not sure if all hardware is 100% in emulation? I am going to have to look up my components to be sure. Sounds like I just might be better off upgrading to 2008LT, would that fix the problem??

Unfortunately there is no 64bit OS version of LT, maybe the next version?
Only full AutoCAD seems to enjoy that pleasure for now.

How can I find out if my hardware is 100% in emulation 32 bit? I have looked at their specs. and they all say they are 32 & 64 bit ready.

Most are not, they only run in 32bit in a 32bit OS, 64bit in a 64bit OS.

Hi, I have the same problem running 2006LT on a new dell system with a quad Intell Xeon E5420 (2.5ghz, 1333mhz, 2x6mb) 4gb memory, XP prof 32bit.
Dual NVIDIA Quadro FX570 cards, drivers 162.55.

In the NVIDA control panel under settings I've set it to Autocad, which I think should be ok.

This is on a 24" IIyama monitor, which is great, but the screen jumping is similar to a refresh type of action, happens every 10 -15 secs.
Does this sound same as what you are getting

Does your screen jump if you are doing nothing?

I have noticed that my screen only jumps when I am in multi-text editor, zoom in and out or pan. I have also noticed that when the cpu fans cuts on the screen jumps. I know that it is not a power issue I am running 1000 watt psu. I also don't think that it is a overheating problem I am running (5) 120mm fans

Maybe your shared 110v wall outlet (or worse, 8-cubicle cluster single
circuit setup) can't keep up with demand for these highly equipped machines
you two use: just a thought.

I have thought of that as well, but I am running off a battery back-up and it is set to kick in if the power spikes or drops. I also share the outlet with 1 other computer also running on a different battery back-up.

My feeling is it's either the Intel Processor or the Nvidia Graphics card. But since they were about $500 each I am hoping that is not the case. When I get some free time I am going to swap the Quadro FX1500 with the other XP PRO x64 system's (2) GeForce 8500 GT. Then see if I get the same results.

Some combinations seem to be troublesome: is this a custom home-build setup,
or off the shelf 'custom' setup from a known vendor.

It is a custom-build computer. But I did my homework and looked for known problems, and I looked for compatibility issues.

I'd go for 2 - 2gb modules and leave the memory slots open since with
XP-64 you can expand to more memory later. Butr why a Xeon? Unless you
are going to have more than 1 cpu, there just isn't any advantage with
the Xeon for any functions other than when used as a server where the
cache makes a difference.

Well, every 2 years I am forced to upgrade my computer. I keep running out of resources so this time I figured that if am going to upgrade that I am going to go BIG!! When the Quad cores price starts dropping I am planning on buying 2 QUAD cores. I also looked at buying the (2)2gb ram, but the price difference at the time that I bought the memory it was cheaper to go with (4)1gb sticks.

I believe you just put off your purchase, maybe, for another year, that's
about it.

It's cheaper to buy the 'nice' PC every couple of years than to blow double
the money on a rig that will only last, maybe, a year longer, especially on
LT2007 and Office as your daily apps.

In fact you could have probably picked up a great laptop in addition to a
desktop and enjoyed greater mobility.

Howdy,

I found out the hard way that 4GB is a waste of money since I do not run a 64bit OS. Go with two 1GB and two 512MB.

Cheers!
