2 versions of AutoCAD

Should there be any reason I can't have AutoCAD 2002LT & say AutoCAD
2002i installed on the same machine?

Thanks

Thanks Dean,

The reason I didn't reply sooner was was I know you take the weekends off. So
do I....

The problem I was referring to was our CAD Manager was having. He uses ALT
(I'm not sure the version, but it's the one that is similar to 2000i) as his
main drawing package. He installed LT 2002 to do some evaluation, and when he
went back to ALT, it was giving him an error when it was starting up. There
was a file ADT couldn't find. I'm not sure if paths were changed during
setup. He ended up reinstalling ALT. He wasn't very happy with me.

For the last few months I have been doing some evaluation of the drafting
needs at our office, to determine if the full version of AutoCAD should be
our main package. After reading Autodesk's statement that AutoCAD LT 2002
uses the same DWG file format that is used in all of the Autodesk solutions
that are built on AutoCAD 2000, 2000i, and 2002.
That includes Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2, 2i, 3, and 3.3
AutoCAD Mechanical 2000, 2000i, and 6
Mechanical Desktop 4 and 5
AutoCAD Land Development Desktop 2, 2i, and Autodesk® Land Desktop 3
AutoCAD Map 2000 and 2000i and Autodesk® Map 5

I've been using AutoCAD LT myself with the addition of one of drcauto OME
Partner's "Mech-Q" I have come to the conclusion that approximately 80% of
our seats could function exactly as they are now if we used AutoCAD LT. I'm
quit confident we would end up with a very comprehensive & stable drafting
system. Oh ya, did I mention the fact the total cost of this set up is
approximately 1/5 the cost of a full version of AutoCAD?

AutoCAD LT does by no means do everything the full version of AutoCAD does. I
certainly not telling everyone to abandoned the full package. I'm just saying
to evaluate your needs. There could be alternatives available.

P.S.
I'm also very interested to see what PenDean Inc. has to offer to the AutoCAD
LT 2002 customers

I do not have any problems with LT2000i and LT2002 on the same machine, but
I do not have ADT enabler installed, and that could be the problem.
