Welcome to the Autodesk Forums!

Assuming the white spot at the top that may be a graphics issue.

Are you looking for the drop down Menus?

Have you changed the CUI in some way?

Hello

Very strange !?

Have you tried to :

- Disable Hardware Acceleration ?

- Upgrade your graphic card driver ?

- Install the SP 1 for ACAD LT 2014 ?

Hi IPESWITCHBOARD,

The area is where 'Quick Access Toolbar' is and commands like New, Open, Save, etc. are located. As Charles and Pat already replied to you in the above, it could be a graphics issue or corrupted customization issue.

Normally, product repair or reinstallation will resolve such issues, but please perform graphics driver update and run 'Reset Settings to Default'.

Thank you.

The QAT is what goes there: can you right-click on it and get a menu pop-up? graphics card hiccup perhaps? You are working n a laptop, with no additional information, that's probably a starting point to review. Win8 is not the problem.

Or as note earlier, you're chosen workspace has the QAT missing?
Do you need the QAT? you did not know about it so my guess is not.
CUI command, QAT stands for Quick Access Toolbar: expand that category, select your active workspace, click on CUSTOMIZE WORKSPACE and see if there is a check mark next to the QAT1 entry.
Uncheck it and live without it for now. Save your workspace.

Look up QAT in HELP in LT2014.
