Swap and Rotate a label

Is there a way to swap AND rotate a label?

I can see how to 'Swap Label Text' under the 'Label Properties' dialogue but no idea how to also rotate the text.

Thanks
Brad

Set them to not Align on the Line/Curve 1st Brad, then they are under your
control for Rotation, etc.

I should have the reasoning behind my suggestion Brad.

The process I mentioned leaves you with Mtext entities, versus an
AEC_CURVETEXT entity.

Easily editable after that.

Except the data, of course. 😉

Thanks for the input Don.

When I disassociate the text from the line all text rotates to a flat horizontal position. I would like to be able to keep the alignment, offset and positioning.

I can easily answer this question myself but I'm assuming that the direction of the text is directly related to the direction the line was drawn so maybe I just need to change my line direction?

Brad I've been fairly busy with grading yesterday afternoon and this
morning, so that's why I haven't got back to you prior to now.

I just attempted a test of Dyn Curve Labels using the Align on Object
unchecked, and LDT 2K4 performed admirably in the test. The test I performed
on Dyn Line Labels also behaved properly.

The Mtext updated itself as I used a grip edit to revise the radius and
length (all the Label items I used in my Curve test) by selecting the
Midpoint of the arc I created for the test, and moved it. The same is true
if I use an Endpoint to do the same revision.

So you have no need to Disassociate the Label to get the necessary changes
to accommodate your needs.

If I've understood your predicament sufficiently?

Hi

Just wondering the reason...
Is it to have the text read from the bottom and the right edge of paper,
when plotted?

If that is the reason, I have cobbled ( I don't do much lisp anymore) a
little lisp together that flips the text rotation of labels.
Would be willing to share it, and even take comments on how to improve it.

Thanks again Don.

Whenever I uncheck the Align on Object box my text seems to become completely disassociated with my line. It does not follow the line/curve anymore.

My problem is that when I plot the drawing some text is upside down and I would simply like to rotate it but still have the text conform to the line or curve.

Rob.

That's right, I want all text to be read from the right or the bottom.

I would be interested in looking at your lisp to see if it will work for me.

Thanks

I've used leaders to point the resulting Mtext towards the Arc/Line being
annotated.

You could also set your Mtext entity to be Middle Center justified, and then
grip-edit it to be in the proper position and rotation if you prefer that to
leaders.

Maybe Rob's lisp can get things to be read in the "proper" manner for you.

Good luck with finally getting things the way you need them to be.

OK
It works for label text added from the label command, based upon the text
justification.
I have not made it do a global filp of text yet. Maybe someday. For now
just start the command and pick the text to flip.

It did not make it as an attachment, look in the customer-files NG.

Very nice Rob!

My input: I noticed that it doesn't work on curves and a nice added feature would be if multiple items could be selected before executing the rotate command.

Your routine is exactly what I'm looking for. Good Job!

Thanks

Those are both items that I want to do, but havent tried yet.

Enjoy.

Rob

p.s.
Maybe AUTODESK will give us the option to have text placed per the two sided
reading (bottom and right edge) direction vs. the current three sided
(bottom, right and left edge) reading.
