Strange error when creating profile

So I set my alignment and my surface current and the nsampled from surface without a swath. At the end of sampling, I get the following error and then nothing happens:

Error reading offpro_head from .vrt file.

Did a little searching, but no help there. Can anyone assist with this please? Anyone seen this?

Any help is much appreciated!

Is the file associated with the correct project?

I don't think it matters much but you could see if the vrt file for the
offpro_head alignment exists. It would be in the project's alignment folder.
Inside that is a folder for all of your alignments. Find the offpro_head
folder & see if offpro_head.vrt was created.

Regardless I would try to sample the profile in a new dwg. If this works,
the original dwg may have had profiles erased with the AutoCAD Erase
command. This may leave attribute behind & mess up things like this.

To see if this happened, go to your troublesome dwg, thaw all & turn on all
layers.Turn on attdisp & see if any tiny little blocks were left behind with
profile data. If you find any double xlick & check out the attribute just
for fun. 🙂

If they are there I would turn attdisp back to normal & go to the profile
menu, select Create Profile & then Delete Profile. ***Read the command line
very carefully and delete the appropriate files as prompted. This command
will list every profile defined in the dwg. Even if it was erased. Leave
only the things behing that you know should be definrd in the dwg.

i believe this issue happened to me because i attempted to rename a surface through windows file explorer instead of in cad. the way i found around this issue was to delete all the lock files, and rebuild the surface from scratch (or recopy the original surface with out editing any naming). i also created a profile with a surface that i knew worked then reattempted the iffy surface and all seemed to work out fine.

hope this was helpful...
