I'm not familiar with Carlson, but here's the general idea on a SDR-33:
First, we download to a .RAW file, which just contains the raw angle,
distance and vertical information. You CANNOT get points to insert into a
drawing from this file.
Then, we convert the .RAW file to a .FBK file. The next step is to edit the
.FBK file.
Once the edit is done, then we import the .FBK file into LDD.
The DC Connect software with Land Development's Survey package is quite easy
to use, IMO.

I am using a SDR33 DC, In the help section of the carlson connect software
it mentions something about modes, yet I have not discovered where to change
the modes, I am having a problem with downloading the DC it automatically
imports the points, that have coordinate values, NEZ into the DWG file,
before I have a chance to edit the field book.
Thanks,
Paulo
