Layer filtering

Ok, If I have xrefs, I don't always want to see those layers. So I go into
the layer manager, choose show all xref layers, and select 'invert filter'.
Poof, xref layers gone. great. Now, I choose the next option which is
'apply filter to layer toolbar. This should apply the same layer view to my
nifty little dropdown layer listing as well correct? It doesn't. Any ideas
on why??

Hey John;

We'll attempt to stay on topic this time. 🙂

It worked as designed in 2002 - I just tried it successfully.

The version its malfunctioning in is...?

Worth a shot I guess!

2004, vanilla, and ldd. Not sure if I'm missing a variable or what. I
messed around with maxsort, not enough layers to matter anyway, but no
matter where I set it, it didn't change anything. I know I used to use it
in 2000 and it worked fine. What's that make, the third time today that you
got me on incomplete or incorrect data? 🙂

I'm not counting.

But I attempted to get the "Where's the audio?" pool going during the Civil
3D webcast.

It's the number one query every week, especially early in the webcast.

I suggested to Dave last week that they increase the font height on the
Webcast site to oh, say 120. But all I could get in response was a smiley
face.

And at least I'm on record as intending to stay OT, this time. 🙂

Hey, thanks Don! That solved it!! 🙂 By the way, you fell off the topic
train again. Have a good one. Oh, and I couldn't find anything in help
either that gave any possible solutions to the filter mess. I guess I'll
just live with it for now. I've got a civil guy over here who is giving me
fits with it though. Wants to put an underscore in front of all his layer
names so they stay at the top. Wasn't sure exactly where to start with that
one. I explained the rules and procedures, didn't work. Talked to his
supervisor, can't say he didn't care, but he doesn't understand the scope of
the problem, so very little help there either. He did say something to the
guy, but again no go. I went into his current project and renamed all the
layers appropriately. Boy THAT got a response. After he was through
venting, I told him to take it to the owner. If the owner sided with him I
would fix it back. Never heard another word. Thankfully, I'm Project
Manager on any arch. projects around here (under the owner) which includes
the info sent from Civil and any other discipline for those projects. I
just send the file on back. It's the regular Civil projects that aren't
part of any of our Arch work that are the problem. I've got standards
management and management on my side, but that doesn't always seem to carry
the game. Gotta come up with better reasoning than 'that dog don't hunt',
management doesn't think it's very P.C. Of course, saying that 'the company
who pays you said to do it that way' isn't getting it either.

🙂 'Courtesy Graphics Solution Providers'? It was my idea to put up a sign
that said, 'you have a job to do, s*** or get off the pot.' Evidently 'that
dog don't hunt' IS a p.c. response from management! We were training,
people weren't listening. Most of those are gone, more are coming in. they
are getting more one on one training. That seems to be working better, and
some of the leftovers are fading away as they are shown up by the new guys.

Just thought you would like to know, I'm running Civil Series 2004 and
my filter seems to work. I can filter the layers and it applies it to my
layer properties toolbar bt not the pulldown in the properties dialog box.

Can't figure out what's keeping yours from working though.
