Jerky Mouse Movement While in a Command

One of the engineer's computers where I work is having trouble with mouse movement while in a command that brings up the coordinate entry boxes like the line command. The movement is very jerky while in a command and movement is smooth while out of any commands.

Specs
2.8 P4
ATI X300 Pro Video Card
1GB RAM
Windows XP Pro
Land Desktop Companion 2007 - SP2A
Civil 3D - SP3

Has anyone seen this problem before?

Does it go away while DYNMODE=0 ?

If so, leave it that way.

No we have not but we will give it a try.

The video card is an ATI x1300 Pro not a x300 Pro

The command 'DYNMODE=0' did not work. The mouse is still jerky in its movement.

Mind if I ask if you've got WIN XP current with Service Packs evilernine?

Just to clear that out of the way I mean.

Has this been the status since LDT was installed? Or something that came up
"along the way"?

And do any of your other apps behave this way, or is it just LDT?

If it's just LDT, then might I suggest a Repair?

With all LDT Sessions closed;
Select Control Panel;
Select Add/Remove Programs;
Select Land Desktop;
Select Change;
Select Repair;
On the Next Dialog Box, Select Repair errors in my Autodesk Land Desktop
installation;
Unselect Restore my shortcuts - unless you feel the need to leave it
selected;
Have the release's installation CD ready that you're Repairing - it will be
requested during the Repair.

Do you have a running OSnap set? If you have one or multiple ones set the
cursor may appear to hang as you pass over potential osnaps.

The command is not 'DYNMODE=0'

You type in DYNMODE and then press enter, and then set the value to 0

As R.K said Dynamic Input can dog down some PC's. The Dynamic UCS can also
do this.
If you have your status line shown, the easiest way to turn them on or off
is with the DYN (Dynamic Input) button and the DUCS (Dynamic UCS) button on
the status bar. You can also type UCSDETECT at the command line to control
DUCS with a 0,1 toggle.

Another culprit may (or may not) be the Selection Preview. See if you get
improved performance if you turn Selection Preview off when commands are
active & inactive. See the attachment to find this in the Options dialog.

I have the same problem, havent installed servicepack 2a yet though, have the latest windows. No dynamic input and with osnaps off. when i first enter the command my mouse will hang up, the time that it hangs varies from half a second at a time to 15 seconds at a time. if im in a line command or something it will ususally stop hanging once i select my first point.

Folks you might wish to look at this thread I found up on the Autodesk DG:
http://discussion.autodesk.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4943883

It came from my Search using this verbiage - "mouse movement slow" - w/o
quotes.

This tinyurl will take you directly there, where you can get a few more
ideas re. this issue - hopefully.

Stick with the "tail". 😉

But seriously I attempted to use a wireless back in late 2K4 with LDT 2K2 I
believe, and found out my troubles disappeared once I plugged a "wired"
mouse into my PC.

Hello all,

It looks like it was Dynamic UCS. He had the dynamic ucs and dynamic input toggles not shown. Once I got them to be displayed I turned off DUCS and his problem went away.

I also had this problem. Two issues. Be sure Grid is off and that SNAP is
set to off.

I had the same jerky mouse movement problem as described. The problem was corrected (as pointed out by Allen) that the "snap on" setting was active. command: dsettings --> snap and grid --> snap on (uncheck box).
