How would i select just pts

I have a button setup (uses the 'change' command) that turns whatever i select onto a designated layer.
I would like to be able to window an area (essentially having it select everything...linework, text, etc.) and have it filter or select just the civil points in that window. So only the civil points are changed to the designated layer.
I know i could use the insert point cmd and the window function in there. But that puts them on the current layer and that is counterproductive, to the other commands i am using at that time.

Thanks

Use QSelsect. Select an Object type of Civil Point Object and an Operator of
Select All. the use the Object selection Icon in the upper right of the
dialog box to do your window selection.

And you may also wish to look into the options available to you at BudCad:
http://www.budcad.com/AutoGroups.htm

I can recall being able to get the CPOs onto numerous Layers, situated by
their Description, or whatever I decided was best for them.

$100 isn't too high a price to pay for something along those lines I hope.

Hi,

Before using this type of process, you should look at how Land Desktop is
designed to assign points to a layer via the Description Keys file.

If you assign points to a layer manually, you are sure to end up with
inconsistent behaviour and create confusion for any other Land Desktop user
who works on the drawing.

There is also a keyboard shortcut

type SSX into your command line and then pick just one point

Then you select previous and everything that was on that same layer and was of the same entity will be highlighted and then you can do whatever you want with it.

So if you have 30 points in a drawing all on the same layer or at least the same type of point, ACAD will select them for you and then you just hit your previous select button and it wil highlight them and you can change them up from there.

If this doesn't work for what you want, then you can still use it for other stuff. Still a cool little trick.
