how to display object's layer name

Sometime I want to know the layer name of a object in xref. Is there a way
to do that without going to the original file?

Yes, you can use the tool called "list xref/block entity". Don't recall what toolbar that is from though, but the command prompt for it is xlist. HTH's.

Express Tools>Blocks toolbar - 3rd from the right.

HTH and all of the ET toolbars remain displayed on my screen, no matter
whether I'm in LDT or LEM.

I enjoy having them "at hand" so to speak. ;0)
