Fatal Error unhandled e06d7363h exception 7c812a5bh

I have a user that had a computer swap done. So he loaded AutoDesk Civil 3D 2007 and companion and patches onto this computer that never had autoCAD on it before. He would like to change the background color of paper space to black. So far he can not. If he goes to options and in to background color he immediately gets the above mentioned Fatal Error and boots him out. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hopefully - this tinyurl provides the link to the Knowledge Base Tech
Support article which describes cleaning the registry (whether there were
previous releases of Autodesk products on the PCs or not) after uninstalling
LDT 2K7, so that the next installation doesn't get hampered by "leftovers".

HTH you two get things "flying right". And make sure you both take note of
the "Important" part of that TS article.

You just gotta weigh the good with the bad sometimes, before the decision is
made to either follow-through, or hold-off for further input Gael. 😉

You can always Export it prior to the edit, so that you have "insurance" -
just in case a mistake is made.

I was just editing my home PC's registry last night, with beneficial effects
I might add.

Especially since you don't wish it to resemble a "hack-job" once you're

Took me awhile, but I finally got it.

I too have had the same error from the same action. I've already done a uninstall & reinstall before this problem came about so I'm not exactly wanting to do that again. I may just stick with the odd ball colors Autodesk assigns for paper space. I've done the service packs for Land, civil companion & civil 3d. This version (2007) sure did come with some major headaches, huh?

After fighting this problem for a while - I finally used the "stock" land desktop .arg file and the problem went away. I was trying to keep user settings from 2006 and obviously this was screwing something up. I haven't had any problems with the .cui file from 2006 - works fine. Hope this helps.

I forget where I read that ARG files are o-n-l-y good for each specific
release. This tinyurl is a Tech Support article re. getting your Profile
from r14 to r2K:
http://tinyurl.com/yw2fq4

Please make not of the last paragraph, just before Print this page.

So it may not be only as I thought above, but it seems that some of the
needs that 2K7 has wouldn't be fully met by a 2K6 profile?

I'm having the same fatal error when I use options>Display>Colors. Like in the post above, LDT 2007 was working, and then I had to do an uninstall and reinstall, then the problem appeared. I'm trying to avoid another uninstall and reinstall but wondering where to find the .arg file, and how to replace it with the stock one. Thanks

Just use Search to locate them on your PC, but make sure you select the More
Advanced Options, then select the top two items that get revealed PJPCELS.

Wow - both a CE and a LS! 😉

Something else to try - instead of adjusting your options (colors) while in paper space, try doing it in model space. That's the only thing I did different and it worked for me and didn't kick me out of Land Desktop like it did before. Or maybe I just got lucky - I don't know. I just think Land 2007 is moody.

And which release hasn't been moody SwickLS9? 😉

well, now that you mention it.... But I think 2007 takes the cake for being the most temperamental (in my opinion)..... Autodesk should have waited and finished this product before shoving it out the door to its victims...

Service Pack 2A has it running fairly well for me here at the homestead
anyway.

I was just wondering why I don't include my Raptor HD in my "specs" below.

I've really enjoyed the abilities it gives me to fairly-well breeze through
the large dwg files.

Hi Don,

I have two computers with this problem, both have had recent re-installs of Land Desktop 2007, and are getting the same fatal error as above when attempting to change display colors via Tools-->Options-->Display-->Colors. Could you please re-up the link you posted here. I believe I need to fix something in the registry.

Thanks.

Not gonna happen. Sadly, Don passed away in 2007.

I'd be willing to bet that he found that link by searching the
Autodesk knowledge base though......
