Error opening Point Group Database: 80040154

Below are the errors we've been getting on a machine running Land 2006. We get similar errors opening any drawings from this computer. Other computers can open the drawings without any problems, so I don't think there is any problem with the .mdb files.

I tried doing an uninstall and reinstall and it didn't fix anything. I removed using add/remove programs, deleted the common program files folder, deleted everything in the autodesk folder in documents and settings, and deleted the autodesk entries in the registry. Is there something else I'm missing to do a complete uninstall?

Or does someone else have any other suggestions I might try?

(J: is a mapped network folder)

Error opening Point Group Database:
J:\...\Groups.mdb
Error SCODE: 80040154

Error creating Point XDRef Database:
J:\...XDRefs.mdb
Error SCODE: 80040154

Error creating Point DescKey Database:
J:\...\DEFAULT.mdb
Error SCODE: 80040154

Error creating Point Database:
J:\...\points.mdb
Error SCODE: 80040154

When we try to run any commands, we get:
"AutoCAD Land Development Desktop is not initialized"

What else can I try?
Thanks

Make sure you don't have any point layers locked. I've had this issue
before when points are on locked layers.

There is no problem with your .mdb. , but there is a problem with MDAC on that specific machine. You need to re-install MDAC ( which is a windows component ) if you have windows SP2 go to http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?id=5590359&linkID=24755&siteID=123112 This is case sensitive I discovered. Ps, i'll bet you just upgraded from ldd 2002. Hope this helps

The link you gave looks broken to me, however I found out how to reinstall from elsewhere and that seems to have fixed the problem. Thank you much!

This website helped me out. I was able to just use the inf file to reinstall MDAC.

http://www.macropool.com/en/download/mdac_xp_sp2.html

How to Repair MDAC 2.81 under Windows XP with SP2

1. Open the folder C:\Windows\inf and locate the file mdac.inf.
Note: Your Windows folder could be named differently, e.g. C:\WinXP

2. Right-click the file mdac.inf and click Install.

3. When prompted for a location, point to C:\Windows\servicepackfiles\i386

4. When prompted for the file handler.reg, either point to C:\Program files\Common files\System\msadc, or put the Windows XP CD in your CD-ROM drive.

This reinstalls / repairs MDAC 2.81 under Windows XP SP2. Message was edited by: cwainright

Thank you so much for finding this fix. I was at the point of doing a new full install of my hard drive when I came across your answer. Autodesk needs to post this in a knowledge base for easier access to help others with this problem.

I was wondering if you ever found a fix for XP SP3. I have the same problem. Need your help. Feel free to email me.

Thanks,
