Dim Explode

When I get a dwg from a client that has acad dimensions on it and overlay
onto my dwg, I explode it. When I explode the supplied dwg, the dims "go to
crap". Sometimes get huge other times super small, .etc..... Is there a
command to keep the dimension the same as originally brought in after I
explode the dwg

I personally think any time a user thinks something should be exploded it
might be time to step back and think if this is my only option; can I do
this another way?

I'm going to read between the lines here. .."When I get a dwg from a client
that has acad dimensions on it and overlay onto my dwg..." sounds like you
overlaid there dwg as a block and there block contains "their" dims? because
if you explode a pure dimension - nothing should change.

1. do not explode their dwg
2. if you must explode their dwg qselect all dimensions and change "their"
style to "Your" style.

There was a command to what I'm trying to do, I can't remember what it was.
Some type of prefix before explode or prefix before Dim

No, not that. I could get by without exploding the supplied block, but I
want to and always have to "clean up" the drawing for field staking of a
construction site based on an original I sent them. And no, lets not get
into using an electronic supplied drawing for stake out. They took my topo
survey, overlaid a building and piles and fencing and sent it back with a
"ton" of dimensions for me to stake out. I'm just trying to keep those
dimensions after I explode it. I'll try your qselect and change to my style

Thanks,
Sbaumer

Just gotta love architects. The qselect option is about the only one you
have. Or, you can edit the architect's style to match your drawings
settings, selecting the dims, and doing an update.

Whichever is easier for you....

Someone out there must know that command. I've done it before a couple of
years ago, Its a 3-4 letter prefix before explode. I'll do Little more
research on it

Thinking about it, under Utilities-->Edit there is Explode Retain
Properties. This command may do the trick. Command line input = XP.
