Command Line Missing

I have just upgraded from Autocad 2004 to 2009. I can see that when I type my input appears on the screen just to the right of the curser but I can only see 1 line. I noticed this when I was inquiring about a surface elevation at a point I chose randomly by clicking the mouse. The typical command line at the bottom from Autocad 2004 is now gone. How do I get the command line back?
