Cannot snap to 3d polylines

Morning all,

I am using AutoCad Civil 3d land desktop companion 2008, and have come across a bizarre issue.... I cannot snap to certain 3d polylines in a drawing. The snap merely connects to arbitrary points on the lines, and i cannot figure out how to fix this and finish the project for a client. I have audited and recovered the drawing, switched back and forth between 'heavy' and 'light' polylines, changed linetypes, but nothing seems to work. Any help would be immensely appreciated.

Are you in a 3d view a 2d wireframe style set?
