Calculate Volume of Cut...

I am working on a project where the client would like to know the volume of material he can take out from a mine. I know the mine boundary and am wondering if it is possible to determine how much volume there is within the boundary. Is there a way to define the boundary at a certain elevation and then have autodesk land desktop 2005 calculate the volume inside the boundary? Thanks for the help.

this is certainly possible- as with any situation there maybe limits-

if you have a dtm/tin surface and a boundary you should be able to calculate
a volume at any given depth- within limits.

that said- there are many different methods and some more sprecific info may
help-

grading objects may suit your case. as well as 3d projection to surface and
basic terrain processes.

as always the ldd tutorials do cover this to some extent, however dry. this
forum is also a great source of help- depending on the amouint of help
needed, the accuracy of the description of the issue, and the willingness to
take advice as well as offer it-
