Crash at Startup LDD 2006

Hello I have been having this issue for about a wek and cannot figure it out. I installed Civil 3D 2008 to mess around with and begin learning the processes, and then uninstalled it about a week after when it was having some problems. Now that I have uninstalled Civil 3D 2008 my land Desktop 2006 does not want to startup. I am getting an error at startup "Exception in c:\Program Files\Autodesk Land Desktop 2006\ ACMapWorkspace.arx ARX Command". I have tried a repair install and two complete reinatalls and installed service packs. I have browsed the topics and cannot find any answers. Anybody have any suggestions?

You probably need to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of Land Desktop.
In order to do this, you need to uninstall the program, then, go to
Start-->Run. At the entry line, type REGEDIT.EXE. This will bring up the
system registry editor. Before editing anything, back up your registry to
your desktop, or to a removable flash drive, etc. Then, do a search for
anything like Autodesk, Autocad and Land Desktop. Delete those entries. It
may take more than one go through to get them all. Once you've done that,
save the registry and reboot your computer. Then reinstall Land Desktop.
Everything should work smoothly after that.

Try repair from your installation disk or deployment.

I have tried this two times now and it has not helped. One thing is that I also have AutoCAD 2006 installed so when I search the registry I only delete things that have land desktop in them. I have also tried a repair install twice and am getting the same eroor message. ????? Should I uninstall all Autodesk products and try from scratch??

Yes. You need to uninstall EVERYTHING AutoCAD related. What probably has
happened is that a shared file has gotten corrupted, and is not being
replaced on a standard reinstall or repair, because other programs are using
it. Only by eliminating all of the programs from your machine, completely,
even their registry entries, are you going to be able to get AutoCAD 2006
and Land Development to reinstall correctly.

I had this same problem with Norton Antivirus. I tried to reinstall it when
it went funky, but I couldn't get the install to work until I totally
removed all Symantec software from my machine and then reinstalled
everything.

Which reminds me....make sure you have antivirus software disabled when
installing AutoCAD and Land Development.

What happens if you don't disable the antivirus program?
