We have been experiencing problems opening up some of our customers drawings as the error message says the version of AutoCAD that this drawing is comprised of is a newer version than the one you have. It suggested that we download true view 2015 for free from AutoCAD. We did this.
When we open any existing drawings that we have, there is no longer and quick access toolbar and more editing tools on our screen. We are not able to do anything at this time with AutoCAD because of this. Does anybody have any suggestions?
Provided you are working with vanilla AutoCAD (lines, circles, text, etc.) then TrueView *is* your tool of choice. It includes a conversion function to batch-downsave drawing files to earlier DWG formats.
The reason I specifically mention vanilla AutoCAD is that TrueView (and everything else) will NOT downsave vertical content from programs like Mechanical, Architectural, P&ID, and so on. So if you have a drawing done with P&ID 2015 you can try to convert it to 2010 DWG format but the special P&ID objects in the drawing will still be 2015 version.
