Visual Styles & Selecting objects problem

Hi everyone! 

As far as I know, to work with meshes, it is not recommended to use the 2dwireframe visual style. So, before I draw anything, i change the visual style to any of the 3d ones. After that, I can't select any thing on the window, neihter a mesh, or even the "menu" which appears above on the left of the window, where you can change the visual style. It seems as if it crashes, although the mouse works perfectly anywhere else from the main window itself. The only way I can work on that window is changing from the menu bar the visual style to 2dwireframe. How can I solve this problem. thanks
