Templates for Autocad 2012 MAC

Hello everyone. I've been using autocad archi 2010 for the past few months in my class. We use Windows there. However, I'm a mac user. I still need to do my work in Mac, especially my finals project. However, it has come to my attention that templates like acad.dwt or acadiso.dwt are present in the 2010 version in Windows, but not in my mac.

But it seems to be in my mac at the same time.

The thing is, whenever I try to create a New drawing file, ACad opens my folders in my library, trying to search for a new drawing template.

It shows the pics below, and THEN disappears and goes back to my Users folder. I try to search for this but I can't. 😕 Why is that? I wanted to search for these things.

Hi,

On Mac all drawing templates stored inside hidden Library folder inside your Home folder. If you want to open Templates folder in Finder (outside AutoCAD) you can go to Library folder this way:
In Finder select Go menu while pressing Option key on keyboard, then you will see Library in Go menu. Then navigate to Application Support -> Autodesk -> local -> AutoCAD 2012 -> R18.2 -> enu -> Template.

HTH

Thanks so much! 😄 I followed your instructions and found it! 🙂 Another question though, would that mean that I can't access it via autocad itself, and that I have to get it by finder? I have no problem with getting it through finder though I am still curious about it. 🙂

AutoCAD should auto-open this folder when you select New from file Menu (NEW command). As I see from your screen shot- you can access this folder. But you wrote that "it disappears"... Does it happens without your interaction?

Yes. It disappears in a second, without me doing anything. I didn't notice the disappearances until awhile ago.

Very strange.. And what about other dialogs for opening files in AutoCAD (DWG, DXF, image files when you are attaching them) are they behaves normally? Did you do something to your OS (update, etc.) before you noticed this?

You can try to reset application settings from AutoCAD Preferences (Application tab)

It didn't work. -_- Although I am content with the current working solution to this, it would be nice to resolve the issue directly from the program. 🙂

Any other suggestions? 🙂

You wrote it " goes back to my Users folder" - does it mean, that select template dialog doesn't get closed, but simply switches to another folder?
If so, can you navigate back to Templates folder (you can add this folder on Sidebar from Finder)?

Have you tried to switch Select template dialog from Column view to List view?

This topic is rather old (I posted in it more than a year ago).

Could you describe your problem in more details?

Please, provide also your AutoCAD version and OS installed on your Mac.

Hi!

I'm having the same problem on my mac when I try to open a new drawing. The templates appear for half a second a switch back to another location on my finder.

I tried updating and resetting the preferences and nothing works.
