Setting my drawing to Scale

Hi,

I am new at using autocad and i am having some trouble setting up my page to scale. I have imported  6 templetes with a title block that come with the programme Autocad all in the one file. These need to all be A3 size and emable me to save a a PDF and email. I am then also having trouble when adding lines into the plan it isnt adding up to be the same size and wont fit into the title block drawing. I have checked that the units are set to 1:50 but the lines i am trying to draw are too big? when i have been told to specifically use A3 size. HELP what am i doing wrong? I am using a Mac computer.

Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks

Sarah

Welcome to the Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

Please describe your workflow in more details:

- are you using title block(s) in Layout(s)?

- where you put your main geometry? in Model space or in layout?

- have you created viewports in Layout?

- how big is your model in real world units? In order to fit to A3 paper at 1:50 scale it should be no more than 18x13 metres.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes i am using title blocks from the layouts.

What i am wanting to do it create a project with the following

1x Floor plan

4x Elevations

1x Section

all to 1:50 Scale in the one file all with title blocks. I also need to be able to save as a PDF and compress file.

Think i should start again........

What are the physical dimensions of the house you need to design?
- width, height
I'm asking about this in order to be sure that it fit to A3 sheet at 1:50

Yes thats what i thought so what am i doing wrong when setting up my page with title block because when i draw the dimention line to one of the measurement it goes off the page. Is it the title block i added did i set it up wrong?

Maybe - yes, please check title block size. It should be around 420x297 mm in Layout: I assume you are using Layout with 1:1 scale in it and view ports in this Latout with 1:50 scale.

Okay will check i used the sheet sets provided there was a choice between a few architectural imperial or architectural metric. I did this by going

- insert

- layout

-Layout from templete.

How do it know which one is 1:1?

Of course you can not know anything about the objects created by someone else until you insert them and measure.
If the dimensions of the Title block are 297x420 AutoCAD units, than it is in 1:1 scale assuming you print 1 AutoCAD unit to 1 mm on the real paper.
Could you post your drawing here?

I was wondering i could use the document you attached previously as that is exactly what i have been trying to do? All floor plan, elevation 1, 2, 3 and 1 section all on 1x A3 page 1:50 scale i need to add more detail and fit out the inside of the shop but this set up would be a great start and much appreciated. i have attached the existing floor plan and elevation so you can see what i am trying to do.

Of course, you can use DWG I attaced previously as start point. Maybe you need just to change Title block in it.
