RENAME - with wildcards as in Windows?

One of the many things I miss - the Windows Autocad RENAME facility, which makes rationalizing layer and blocknames so easy.

Unless I am missing a trick, layers etc can only be renamed individually on Mac ACAD. Has anyone got a clever LISP routine to emulate the way they can be batch renamed in Windows? Or another solution?

thanks

Still no solution to this. Even the command line -rename does not allow the use of a wildcard to (for example) prefix all layers. So:

-rename

la

*

AA-*

Fails at the 3 line.

BTW, this command sequence doesn't work also in AC 2012 for Windows, the same situation with dialog box version of RENAME command in AC for Windows.
