Plotting PDF underlay

I have a file where I am using a PDF underlay as my base plan, and when I go to plot to PDF or export to PDF, the file ends up being 41MB for a single 11x17 sheet of paper. I have used wipeout to conceal some areas of the PDF plan, and have used cropped versions of the initial PDF to indicate an alternate furniture arrangement. Not sure if this is contributing to the massize output size. The initial PDF is well under 1MB itself. Is there any way to reduce the size of the plotted file?

thanks!

Hi,

I think that it is because of the way in which Mac OS creates PDF files
containing image files - it doesn't use image compression at all (when you
plot DWG file with PDF underlay PDF converted to raster image inside
resulting PDF). You need to use some PDF compression procedure, such as
Automator workflow in order to reduce PDF file size after it will be
created in AutoCAD.
I use such workflow in my daily work.
