Hi everyone my work put me on a cad for beginners course a few months back it was 2 hours a week for 10 weeks but now expect me to design the birds nest stadium im only joking but now im using it everyday with no one to ask when i run into problems i thought i'd ask here first of all i was using the education copy of autocad 2014 which i had sort of gotten used to as it was similar to the one i used at college now ive upgraded to 2015 LT which is completely differernt even some (very busy ) architect friends tried to set it up on my mac but couldnt get to grips with it i have parrallels on my imac so im using the windows version for now but things like the speed of the zoom and the speed of the mouse are so fast thats its nearly impossible to draw anything i had just gotten used to the workspace on 2014 but again its all different i couldnt import my old settings as the educational copy had to be completely removed before i could install 2015 LT any genral tips or advice for a beginner would be appreciated before i lose heart with it
Sorry about my lack of grammer.
first question is there anyway of slowing down the speed of the crosshairs ? i find the mouse speed fine when over the ribbon or on any other pages its just when over the drawing workspace its almost uncontrollable.
second is there any way of increasing the size of the icons or the icons toolbar ?
thanks for any assistance that anyone can give.
yes it is now , i had the student version of autocad 2014 mac version but couldnt get to grips with it ,
so as we have it at work on windows i figured it would be easier to learn one version rather than both (windows-Mac)
so ive removed the mac version and am using it through parralles
im using parrallels on my late 2013 imac.
i got the version of parrallels at the same time october last year so i think its number 9
and its windows 7 im using hope this helps.
You can set mouse movement here (Windows Control Panel - Mouse):
And Toolbar buttons size here (AutoCAD Options):
Maxim
And another thing you can to try in Parallels settings for Windows virtual machine in order to improve situation with mouse movement speed:
try to set "Smart Mouse" to "Don't optimize for games" if you have another setting bu chance:
Maxim
thanks for the info,i dont have those mouse settings on windows 7 but i have turned down the mouse speed on windows which seems to have helped. can anyone point me in the right direction with regard to saving my workspce when i get it how i like it ?
i went through the cui command and set current then set default but when i hit apply it brings back all the things ive removed or closed down to get it to how i want it.
thanks again from a keen learner
cheers for the help that seems to have fixed it . all i have to do now is learn how to use it the main problem being that there is no one else at my work who uses it so theres nobody to ask when i get stuck .
