MAC AutoCAD 2014 LT large PDF files

My business partner and I both are running AutoCAD 2014 LT. He is on PC and I am on MAC. We are experimenting to see if we could make the switch to MAC. We printed PDF's of the exact same dwg, his was 400kb, mine was 4mbs. Its a huge issue as consultants can't print my PDFs when they are combined. Is there a print driver or setting or command I am missing? I need these to be smaller... could be a deal breaker for us switching to MAC.

I have read through forums and tried everything I know to no avail. Please help.
Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

You are not quite correct here, the PDF size problem in Mac version of AutoCAD was discussed a lot of times on the Forum:

.....

As I wrote many times before, the main case is in the fact that AutoCAD for Mac uses Mac OS PDF engine to render PDF files and you can get file size problem when:

- there are a lot of text objects in the drawing

- there are some specific hatch patterns in the drawing (such as dot)

- there are wide polylines in the drawing,

- there are a lot of Spline objects in the drawing,

- there are raster image files attached to the drawing.

I have read all of these posts previously.  I am not willing to explode drawings or objects, change standardized hatches, change lineweights, change text, remove images, etc.... on shared dwgs that my partner on a PC can print perfectly and efficently because I can't on MAC.  Its robbing peter to pay paul and my partner will inherit the problem.  Disrupted workflow on large sets can lead to getting fired.

So, still no solution is what I am seeing, correct?

Correct. For now with AutoCAD for Mac there is no solution.

Any chance there are alternate PDF drivers for MacOS that perform better?

This is NOT a great solution (no solution?!?) AutoDesk?  What gives?  Why can't you get your act together and create a software that works in the real world?
