Importing a linetype.

Hi.

I have made my own line type in a Notepad App and saved it as a .lin file. I'm now trying to import it into AutoCAD 2013 for Mac.

I've created a new layer for this linetype.

In the proerties inspector box, I've clicked on the linetype dropdown box.

Clicked on Manage...

This opens a new window to select linetype.

I've clicked on Load... at the bottom left hand corner.

This opens another window to Load or Reload linetypes.

I've clicked on the file finder button on the top right hand corner.

selected the .lin file I've made

But when I click on Add an error window pops up saying select one or more linetypes to load.

But I just have! Is it not allowing me to select my .lin file from the documents folder? Does it have to be saved elsewhere, to be found for example in an Autocad folder?

This is what the .lin file looks like

* MAIN EXISTING BUILDINGS, ---- . . ----
A,4,-1,0,-1,0,-10

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

You need to delete space between * and linetype description:

*MAIN EXISTING BUILDINGS, ---- . . ----
A,4,-1,0,-1,0,-10

Problem solved.

Thanks for that Maxim K. I can't believe that one space made all the difference.

It now loads straight in. When I drew a line and had a look, I realized straight away I made another error. I had to drop the 0 at the end (change the -10 to a -1) for it to have the equal sized gaps that I wanted  ---- . . ---- . . ---- . . ---- . . ----
