I need to reset the application settings constantly in order not to crash

Dear,

We use autocad lt 2014 for mac in our office.

One of our users needs to reset the applications settings constantly in order not to crash.

After resetting them AC seems to work for a while, after a day the problems reapear.

This makes it impossilble for us to work efficiently.

The following problems appear all the time: crash while opening a second drawing, adding xrefs, closing the program

This user had the same problems while working on autocad lt 2013.

We also tried to reinstall the program several times.

Can anybody help us with this urgent problem?

Kelly

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Kelly,
From your post I can suppose that the main problem of AutoCAD crashes could be a problem with DWG files location. Where do you place DWG files in your office? Is it a local drive? Or it is network location (shared network disk)?

If the second: you need to verify network settings on Mac.
You can also try to copy all DWG files from network location to local hard drive on Mac and see how it will work.

If the case is not in DWG file location, than I want to ask you about the nature of DWG files you are trying to open in AC for Mac. How complex they are? Where them was created: in AC for Mac, or in AC for Windows?

Maxim

Dear Maxim,

I will check the network settings for this mac.

In attachment you can find the file the user is working on all the time.

Would you consider this file as too complex?

Dear Kelly,

The file you posted here is not really complex, free from proxy objects and it don't crash AutoCAD on my side.
I have some additional questions: what Mac model do you have, how many RAM installed in your Mac, which OS version do you have and have you updated AutoCAD with SP1?

Dear Maxim,

In attachment you can find more information of the mac.

Does this look ok for you?

I allready installed SP1 before.

1. 4Gb RAM - seems not really enough for AC for Mac, because it is 64-bit application, and 4Gb is minimum in my practice.
2. Why do you still have 10.8.2? If you don't want to upgrade to Mavericks, consider at least to upgrade your system to 10.8.5

Dear Maxim,

I will update to 10.8.5 for now.

I will add 4Gb to this computer so I will have 8Gb.

Does this seem ok for you?

I can not be 100% sure, but I think 8Gb should improve the situation.
