Hidden visual style outline thickness?

Hey everyone,

Currently I'm doing a work for the university and needed to plot a layout with a viewport set to the HIDDEN visual style. Whenever I plot the layout as a pdf the outline of the 3d objects is really thick (as you can see in the image). I would like every line to have the same thickness as the one set for the layer the object is on. Is there any way I can do this?

I'm using Autocad 2013 for Mac.

Hope you can help,

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

Try this:
Select Viewport you are plotting in Layout, in Properties palette find "Shade plot" property, open drop down list and select "Legacy hidden".
Now try to preview PDF.

Thank you Maxim,

I had to use legacy hiden, but It worked.

Then I kept working and had another problem when plotting cylinders (as you can see in the image). Any tips on how to get rid of the lines on the surface of the cillynders?

Unfortunately there is no way to remove this lines from curved surfaces if you use Legacy hidden option for hiding in viewport.
You can try another workaround: use FLATSHOT command to create 2D projection of 3D objects (3D Solids) in Model Space, than use resulting block in Layout. But keep in mind that FLATSHOT ignores 2D objects, so if you have such objects in your view, you have to combine in some way results of FLATSHOT with 3D view that contains 2D objects. Or you have to create entire scene from 3D Solids only.

On the other hand if there are not a lot of curved 3D objects in your scene, you can create PDF as it is and than edit PDF in Inkscape or in AI and remove unnecessary lines.

Maxim,

Thanks for this suggestion. I was also having this issue.

One thing that did pop up. When I switch to the Legacy Hidden shade style, none of my text plots on the layout.

Any insight?

Hi Shane,

I also see this problem. Looks like this is a bug in AC for Mac.
The workaround is to use one of the system printers installed on your Mac instead of predefined "AutoCAD PDF" printer.
