dimensioning distance not to scale

in architectural construction drawings, there are times when the a very long object--e.g., a lamp pole--is drawn so that only a portion of the pole is drawn--e.g., the top, middle, and bottom. When dimensioning in such a situation, the dimension line is drawn so that the line is interrupted by an "S" shaped swiggle, or in the above case, two swiggles. this alerts the reader that the dimension line is not to scale, but forshortened. the written dimension is of course given correctly. Some draftspersons will follow this dimension with the letters NTS--meaning Not To Scale. [or not  too sure].

is there a tool with autocad lt that  allows for such a not-to-scale dimension to be constructed, both graphically--are there shortcuts commands for the "S" shaped squiggle--and dimensionall--i.e., the text override command would not need to be used?

Hi,

It seems the only one way AutoCAD provide to accomplish your task is DIMJOGLINE command which allows to add jog symbol to dimension.

Here is video tutorial (for PC version, but works on Mac too):
